A ‘Technical process with political undertones’: perspectives on border delimitation and demarcation

The most, if not the only tangible result of the bilateral negotiations between Baku and Yerevan in 2024 is the 12-kilometre demarcated section of the northern part of the border and the subsequent ratification of the Regulation on the Joint Activities of the Commissions on Delimitation of the Two Countries. However, the process of border demarcation may take a long time, as more technically and politically challenging sections lie ahead, including the need to find solutions to the problems with the enclaves that existed on the territories of the two countries during the Soviet years.

In the programme ‘The Line of Contact – Current Issue’ aired on Civilnet political scientist, Samvel Meliksetian and military psychologist Azad Isazade discussed issues related to the process of border delimitation. The programme was prepared on the joint initiative of Yerevan and Baku Press Clubs.
