Yerevan-Baku Speaking. New perspectives on the ‘Line of Contact’ Initiative

The ‘Line of Contact’ initiative of the Yerevan and Baku Press Clubs, launched in December 2023, has so far achieved impressive results. Suffice it to mention that the 45 programmes broadcast over the course of about a year have gathered a total of more than half a million views. Together with other content created within the framework of this project, mainly analytical articles, the project garnered 1.2 million views.The project aims to give platforms to Armenian and Azerbaijani experts to freely express their views on various aspects of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, propose solutions, and debate with their interlocutor, whilst avoiding deadlocking the conversation through mutual accusations.

Since the start of 2025 ‘Line of Contact’ has been continuing the Armenian-Azerbaijani expert dialogue in an expanded format. The programmes are aired every Monday and Thursday alternately on the YouTube channels of PressKlub TV (Baku) and CivilNet (Yerevan) under the headings ‘Events of the Week’ and ‘Current Issue’. This initiative can be considered unique in the past and present experience of Armenian-Azerbaijani dialogue in terms of its periodicity, format and corss-border collaboration.

In this programme, the Heads of Yerevan and Baku Press Clubs Boris Navasardian and Arif Aliyev discuss the results and prospects of their initiative. The interlocutors agreed that the rapid changes taking place in the modern world confirm the truth that up to Armenian and Azerbaijani societies themselves to present a way forward.
